One of those days
Don't you wish you could skulk off to a island hut and stay there for a few days...weeks...months...
You hear about "loners" but I think they get a bad rap. Sometimes I want to be alone - not because of any reason - no fighting, nothing wrong, just because I want to be alone with my thoughts. I love my little boy, but sometimes I just want to not be asked ANY more questions. I get tired of being the one responsible for EVERYTHING like "what's for dinner?" "do we have clean towels?" etc. I want to not be asked for anything, just for one day. No demands made of me. No work to be done. Nobody giving unsolicited advice. Just one day of being me.

Victory!!!
I LOST 5 POUNDS!!!! WOOOOOHOOOO! Probably the first time in a LONG time I've actually *lost* weight instead of gaining it.
I'm taking care of myself now. I'm not being a food nazi and not trying to go nuts with tons of exercise all at once. For example - I usually had maybe 4-5 Dr Peppers a day - now I have maybe 1-2. I know that alone is a good hunk of calories saved. I exercise 45 minutes at a time, 2-3 a week. I mix treadmill, elliptical and weight machines. This week, I wasn't feeling good and hadn't gone to the gym, but yesterday I was on the treadmill a total of 1 hour (and 15 minutes) and felt GREAT!
I enjoy my food - I don't freak out if I have pizza. I savor my Dr Peppers. I got chocolate for Valentine's Day, so I eat a piece or two, enjoy it, and I'm done with it. Just not eating 8-10 at a time like I used to!
Could I eat a more perfect diet and exercise more? Sure. Would that burn me out? Most definitely.
I'm sure other people do great on Jenny Craig, etc. I don't....I don't like the pre-packaged-thought-out-for-you or even menu-every-bite bit. That's not real to me. I think for others, it's great, and I say more power to 'em. But my theory is, for me at least, hey, what happens once you get to your goal? Do you keep buying the (more expensive) diet stuff? Keep cataloging every morsel?
Hey, I say, be real. Eat real food! Just not as much. :) Drink more water. Don't stress about every morsel you put in your mouth - that alone probably ages you more than the extra calories. Re-freakin'-lax.
Life is short. Enjoy a piece of chocolate your sweetie (or family) gave you...just savor it and don't eat 'em all at once.
And don't get me started on fat-free junk. Come on! Probably the only thing I even care for is the sour cream - can't tell a lot of difference with that, but fat-free cheese is like eating rubber and it doesn't melt right. And the shredded stuff!!! Blech! Eat the real thing, just a smaller amount!
I'm off to make dinner. I made my first roast, so I need to make the gravy and get the potatoes mashed. We've got some good salad stuff, too. I think we're really on our way to better health - it's one day at a time. I know I've slept a LOT better the last few nights and I think that'll only get better.
Just my ponderings. YMMV. :)
Have a great day!

Lent is coming
Ash Wednesday is February 6, which starts the season of Lent. Things at work (my church) are getting really busy because of this since we have special services every Wednesday till Easter, and also Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services. I need to remember the "reason for the season". Christmas isn't the only busy time of year for churches....now I'm a part of it, so I hope I can get through okay.
I love this picture.
Incredible birthday at Incredible Pizza
Seth had a great birthday. We let him loose with his game card and he also got to play mini golf with Granddad and Dad. He had a BLAST! He has a gift certificate he needs to spend, so we plan on going shopping this weekend. :)
WOW! I love this interior!
Okay, so if you see this in a store....

How come we don't have these in the US?
