Thinking

I'm about to go to bed, but I was just up cleaning up some iTunes stuff and favorites, etc. on my computer. (It's always a dangerous thing b/c it's so easy to get sidetracked!)

I got going on Facebook and realized how lucky I was to know so many really good people in my little circle of friends. Some are from high school, some are from work/church, etc. I've recently 'hooked up' with some friends from high school that I don't usually get to 'talk' to, and it's so nice to catch up with them and see what they're doing. I guess I didn't realize how many friends I had in high school, and I'm so thankful for them.

Also, I've realized that I've met so many wonderful people since then, especially now that I'm working at my own church. How fortunate I am to have a pastor and a youth director as friends - people that I really feel that I could go to in a moment's notice for help. How fortunate I am to have those other friends that I've even just recently made over the last few years - people that are perhaps parents of my little boy's friends, or those I've met in church. I really do know many, many extraordinary people. And that doesn't mean that their job is (or isn't) extraordinary, it's that THEY are.

If you're my friend, and you're reading this - I appreciate you!

Moms and Boys

Okay, I don't know if this baby giraffe is a boy, but it makes me think of me and Seth. I've recently heard of a teenage boy in our community that ran away, and it made me want to go straight to my 9 year old and hug him. You only get one family. Little boys are only little ONCE. Made me thankful to have my little guy safe at home tonight.

May we never forget the heroes that make sure we're safe every day.

Change for me

I've never been one to be a leader - I've always been a follower. A worker bee. The one people came to if they needed something done. I enjoyed helping people and making a difference.

Over the last few years, I've (very) gradually shifted....little by little I've gotten to another level...the "L" word - leader!

I always thought leaders were a different breed of people. "Those" people. That lofty level of being that leads us followers around and shows us the way.

I never really cared to be a leader before, but as I've gotten involved in more and more things, I've realized that I can sit back and wish things were done (or at least done differently), or I can do something about it.

I'm the type that I'd rather ask forgiveness than permission, so that may get me in trouble...but then again, I'm one to get things done. There's only so much discussion that can happen. Analysis paralysis can kick in and that drives me NUTS.

So I'm hoping to handle all these new things I've jumped into gracefully. I just told Seth the other night to not worry about things so much...I need to take that advice myself.

Big machine, big money.

The boys had fun at the quarry. We found out that these tires cost $10,000 EACH!!!

Our boy!

Only my son....

...would stick a pink rubber ducky on his head. LOL

The Quarry

The Cub Scouts went to the Tulsa Rock Quarry today. Seth took this picture when we were leaving - I think it's really good!

Proud Granddad and Award Winner Seth

Seth got his God and Me award from church recently. We were all really proud of him!
